Tessa Sutton Return to Soccer Team After Finishing Cancer Treatments

DUNLAP, Sick. (WMBD/WYZZ) — She’s just happy to be back again.

Even if she’s carrying a stocking cap on a 70-diploma day.

“I naturally stand out since I’m the only 1 donning a hat,” Tessa Sutton said. “But it was superior to see everybody, see my close friends once more.”

9 months after she was identified with cancer, the sophomore is back with the Dunlap soccer workforce. She had her last chemotherapy treatment method previous month and she’s not at comprehensive toughness.

But she’s at apply and supporting anyway she can.

“Being able to clearly show up day to day is awesome. It presents me a thing to do,” reported Sutton.

She’s assisting chase down errant pictures and walking all-around the apply field now. She’s also performing with a coach to regain energy in the weight area ahead of practice.

She was diagnosed with cancer final June as the soccer season was ending and commit many months at the St. Jude Children’s Healthcare facility in Memphis going through treatment options. She returned to university March 7.

“Being equipped to see everybody and acquiring them see me places all people in a happier mood,” Sutton stated. “I’m hoping to at least engage in a recreation this period. Probably close to the close of the period. But if I can’t I’ll just cheer on the group.”

It’s not just her target to enjoy this period, it is her coach’s goal also.

“We want to see her engage in on the subject,” stated Dunlap soccer coach Peter Cenek. “Put that jersey on and truly engage in.”

Tessa is not positive when she’ll be solid ample to participate in in a match this year, but the Eagles say when that working day will come, it will be lead to for celebration.

“When she can and is ready to occur again, it’s heading to suggest a great deal to me and everyone else,” claimed senior Sammi Cenek. “We’re tremendous psyched. When she’s ready, no pressure or thrust, we’re ready for her.”
